Nicole de Warlincourt is a French classical realist artist recently graduated from the reputed Angel Academy of Art in Florence, Italy, an academy which aims at training its students in the tradition of the Old Masters.
"Art, she says, has always appeared to me as a bridge between ordinary life and, what I would call for short « transcendency », what speaks to the soul. The fresh light it casts on what it captures invites the viewer to project himself into the artist’s perception and reach out for hidden beauty, beauty beyond the obvious or, one might say, beyond all memory, the signature of the Creator, as it were.
What could then be more appealing than testing my own artistic abilities and trying to bring to life that very modest, but somewhat unique particle of Beauty which is in all of us and projects one beyond the self ?
I, therefore decided to move to Florence, a paradise for artists."
Yet, art came as a sort of second life. After university studies which brought her to Madrid. London and Geneva, she began her career as an international civil servant, joining the International Labour Office (ILO) in positions of senior responsibilities which gave her the opportunity to travel the world, meet and work with people of great diversity and enrich herself in contact with their culture.
Among the Masters that inspire her are Fra Angelico, Michelangelo, Frans Hals,Van Dyck, Velazquez , Vermeer, Zurbarán, Turner, Richard Schmid, Annigoni and many others.
